In 'Flowers of Serenity', whilst creating this painting, in my life I was going through a spiritual programme in order to achieve more serenity.
For me, the garden metaphorically represents the process of spiritual change. White flowers symbolise the beauty and serenity gained by surrendering to the spiritual transformation process that was being undertaken.
I worked on this painting for a very long time, adding what seemed like infinite layers of different blues to create the deep blue of the night sky. The plant stems have been built up with multiple layers of paint in order to create a slightly three-dimensional feel and to try and make them appear as if they are floating in the evening breeze.
